Porsche Design Huawei Mate 9 vs Huawei Mate 9: Design and features

The Porsche Design Huawei Mate 9 packs many of the same specs of the Huawei Mate 9, but when it comes to design, these two phones are like Brad Pitt and Barry Chuckle: similar on the inside, different on the outside.

The Huawei Mate 9 is a good-looking handset, sporting a reasonably slender all-metal unibody. It’s not too hefty despite its palm-filling size, although you’ll need pretty big pockets if you aren’t going to be carrying it in a bag or purse. You can grab the Mate 9 in two different colours, silver and white or dark grey.

The Porsche Design Huawei Mate 9 is a revamped model, coming in a more compact form. While the Mate 9 is a massive 5.9-inches, the Porsche version is a more slimline 5.5-inches. The screen design is different too, as you’ll see in the next section.

enn, both handsets offer up a fingerprint sensor, for fast and secure access to your important bits. And neither phone is water resistant, so try not to drop them in the toilet.

Porsche Design Huawei Mate 9 vs Huawei Mate 9: Screen and media

As well as that overhauled design, the Porsche Design Huawei Mate 9 also features a smaller 5.5-inch screen compared with the standard Mate 9’s 5.9-inch display. The Porsche model sports a curved display too, which bends around the left and right edges of the phone. That’s something we’ve seen before from Samsung, on the likes of the Galaxy S7 Edge, but which is absent on the Huawei Mate 9.

þó, while the Porsche model boosts the resolution to Quad HD from Full HD, both of the Mate 9 handsets give you sharp, clear visuals. And you also get a microSD memory card slot for expanding the phone’s storage, although you might not need this on the Porsche model. For while the Huawei Mate 9 packs in 64GB of storage space, the Porsche Design Mate 9 boasts a mighty 256GB of room for your media and other bits.

Porsche Design Huawei Mate 9 vs Huawei Mate 9: Cameras

When it comes to camera tech, there’s no difference here. Both the Huawei Mate 9 and the special edition Porsche model sport a dual-sensor Leica snapper on the back, with a 12-megapixel and 20-megapixel lens that work together to produce detail-packed snaps. And on the front you get an 8-megapixel camera for all of your selfie needs.

Porsche Design Huawei Mate 9 vs Huawei Mate 9: Performance and battery life

You get the same processor inside both of these phones too, namely Huawei’s fresh and impressively powerful Kirin 960 chipset. þó, while the Mate 9 gives you a standard 4GB of RAM, the Porsche Design model ups this to a mighty 6GB. We’re therefore expecting smoother everyday performance from the Porsche version.
