Install DarkTable 2.0.1 (Photo Software) On Ubuntu

How to install DarkTable 2.0.1 (photo manipulation software) on Ubuntu 15.10, Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.04 and Ubuntu 14.10 Systems. Darktable is an open source photography workflow application and RAW developer. A virtual lighttable and darkroom for photographers. It manages your digital negatives in a database, lets you view them through a zoomable lighttable and enables you to develop raw images and enhance them.

The software brings many powerful editing features such as basic and advanced image operations, tone image operations, color image operations, correction modules and effects/artistic image postprocessing. Darktable has a zero-latency fullscreen, zoomable user interface through multi-level software caches.

Darktables’s powerful export system supports Picasa webalbum, flickr upload, disk storage, 1:1 copy, email attachments and can generate a simple html-based web gallery. darktable allows you to export to low dynamic range (JPEG, PNG, TIFF), 16-bit (PPM, TIFF), or linear high dynamic range (PFM, EXR) images. The software uses both XMP sidecar files as well as its fast database for saving metadata and processing settings. All Exif data is read and written using libexiv2.

Darktable 2.0.1 is the latest version of the Darktable photo manipulation software. It has been relesed with a huge list of changes:

Install Darktable on Ubuntu

Run the following commands in Terminal to install DarkTable 2.0.1 (photo manipulation software) on Ubuntu 15.10, Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 14.10 and Ubuntu Derivative Systems:


$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pmjdebruijn/darktable-release
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install darktable

Once installed, open the Darktable from Ubuntu Dash or Menu.

If you wish to uninstall and remove the Darktable software, run the command given below:


$ sudo apt-get remove darktable
