AmpMe

A surround sound system in my apartment has been a dream of mine for a while now, but the idea of managing all those wires and space limitations have made it impractical.

At one point I tried to set up multiple Bluetooth hangszóró around my house synced with different devices; one with my gaming PC, one with my laptop, one with my phone, one with my tablet. It was a lackluster effect at best and downright headache-inducing as worst because the music simply didn’t sync and there was lots of latency in playback.

AmpMe is the app that would have fixed that. Free to download on the iTunes store and Google-játék, it uses Wi-Fi or mobile data to sync your music across multiple devices, provided all of them have the app installed. If the device in question is also synced to Bluetooth speakers, it creates a makeshift sound system.

AmpMe is not a music player on its own and doesn’t come with any music files. Inkább, it pulls music from SoundCloud, YouTube-on, your personal library and most recently (and importantly), Spotify. The app lets your stream music and have it sync on nearby devices, both iPhone and Android. Even if you don’t have Bluetooth speakers, you can use the phones of your friends to amplify the noise of music or a video. A legfontosabb, your friend’s phone doesn’t need to have that music loaded onto their device.

A demo, the music I listened to transitioned seamlessly and had little to no noticeable lag. It also seemed to work on iPhones and Android devices equally well. The interface of the AmpMe app itself also seemed intuitive and easy to use. Now that I have half a dozen Bluetooth speakers (one of them newly acquired at MWC), I think I can finally get my surround sound set up.
