Samsung has begun rolling out a new update to the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. The new update includes the latest security update and the company’s cloud storage service, Samsung Cloud. The software update is believed to have only been released to Italy, according to Ubergizmo. It will reach other regions in the coming days/weeks, but Samsung has not provided an exact release schedule yet,
The most important thing to take note of the update is the inclusion of Samsung Cloud. The company’s own cloud storage service was first announced earlier this month. It is actually an extension of Samsung’s Smart Switch service that allowed users to transfer data from one device to another.
Samsung Cloud will have the same function of Smart Switch, but it includes an additional 15GB of free cloud storage where users can store their photos, videos, music and other data. Samsung Cloud was first introduced alongside the Galaxy Note 7, the phablet that is expected to be released on August 19.

Although Samsung introduced its cloud service for the Galaxy Note 7, it looks like the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are actually the first handsets to enjoy the new feature. With Samsung Cloud expanding to the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge, this opens up the possibility that the company could take it to older devices like the Galaxy S6 or even the Galaxy Note 5. The service is also an ideal solution for users who often reset their phones to factory settings. They can restore their lost data by synching it to Samsung Cloud.
For users anticipating the over-the-air (OTA) update, they should know that it has a file size of 151.89MB. Users can manually check if the update is available by heading to the Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge’s Settings menu. The OTA update also includes the August security patch for Android, general performance improvements, and upgrades to GPS, NFC and Bluetooth functionalities, according to Android Authority.
