Enable personal file sharing in Ubuntu 10.04

I just have some difficulties in enable personal file sharing in Ubuntu 10.04. When the Personal File Sharing Preference window pop up, i’ve a grayed out section for “Share files over the Network”. After some help from the forum, and i notice this is a bug and luckily there is a solution to solve this.

To enable personal share in Ubuntu 10.04, follow the steps below:-

  • Go to System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager
  • Search for ‘libapache2-mod-dnssd’, once you found it, tick for installation and apply.
  • Once the installation done, you should be able to enable personal file sharing by now.
