Apple Supplier Claims New iPhone Models To Ship With Wireless Charging And Advanced Water-Resistance

With the launch of the iPhone 7 and its bigger variant, iPhone 7 Plus, Apple had seen fit to incorporate IP67 water resistance after a long haul. However, while a welcome addition indeed, the technology was still inferior to what Samsung and other smartphone manufacturers like LG were offering. Now, as it seems, the forthcoming iPhone 8, Apple is stepping up its game in the water resistance department with new technology.

iPhone 8 To Incorporate Wireless Charging Support And Advanced Water Resistance

One of Apple’s major suppliers, Wistron and as per a Japanese website Nikkei Asian Review, there are two new advanced features which will make its way to the iPhone 8, iPhone 7s Plus and iPhone 7s. While the production process has more or less remained the same for Apple, it is likely that the company will add IP68 water resistance in its next iPhone.

“Assembly process for the previous generations of [iPhones] have not changed much, though new features like waterproof and wireless charging now require some different testing, and waterproof function will alter the assembly process a bit.”

IP68 water resistance will be added to the next iPhone to better compete against the likes of Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S8+. However, since the technology revolves around water resistance and not water proofing, do read the official documents before claiming warranty.

Apart from this, the iPhone 8 is also said to come with another feature derived from the company’s competitor – support for wireless charging. At this point in time, the iPhone’s current charging capabilities are far inferior to what Samsung is offering. Even though Samsung has introduced Fast Charging technology in its smartphones and has added wireless charging support since long, the iPhone lags when it comes to this. Nonetheless, this will soon change as the company is reportedly adding wireless charging support to the table
