Acer’s latest gaming desktop features 18-core processor, will support over 8K UHD displays

Acer today unveiled the Predator Orion 9000 series gaming desktop targeting high-end gamers and content creators. Predator Orion 9000 desktop feature up to an Intel Core i9 Extreme Edition processor with 18 cores and 36 threads, up to 4-way AMD Radeon RX Vega graphics or two NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti graphics in SLI. When you combine these CPUs and GPUs with up to 128 GB quad-channel DDR4 memory, Predator Orion 9000 will be able to handle compute-intensive tasks with ease.

When you pack such specs inside a desktop, there should be a clear way to dissipate all the heat that will be generated. The Predator Orion 9000 desktop feature liquid cooling and Acer’s IceTunnel 2.0 to keep the temperature down. Huge metal mesh panels on the front and top allow more cold air in and the rising hot air of the liquid-cooled CPU out, while up to five 120 mm fans in the front, top, and back channel cool air through the chassis.

The connectivity option in the desktop includes two USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports (one Type-C and one Type-A), eight USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports (one Type-C and seven Type-A) and two USB 2.0 ports (Type-A). The Predator Orion 9000 supports a total of three M.2 slots and four PCIe x16 for future expansion.

All these internals are packed in a black-and-silver spacecraft-like exterior with customizable RGB lighting along the sides of the front bezel. There’s a window panel on the side that showcases the powerful interior with a design that keeps electromagnetic interference (EMI) levels in check despite the size of the opening.

The Predator Orion 9000 Series gaming desktops will be available in the US later this year starting at $1,999; and in EMEA in November starting at €1,999.

Along with the Predator Orion 9000, Acer today also announced Predator X35 curved monitor. Predator X35 is a 35-inch, 21:9 monitor with a 1800R curve and a WQHD (3440 x 1440) resolution. It features NVIDIA G-SYNC, Acer HDR Ultra, quantum dot technologies with color range covering 90 percent of the DCI-P3 color standard. The fast 4 ms response time and high 200 Hz refresh rate makes gameplay smooth without tearing or visual artifacts.

The Predator X35 display will be available in Q1 2018.
